Questions and answers

What format are the guides?

Each guide is a PDF in US letter size with real, selectable text, so you can read it on a phone, tablet or computer, search it, or print it. The worksheets sit at the back of each guide, ready to print and fill in by hand.

How do I get the guide after I buy it?

Checkout and payment are handled by Stripe, through its Link service. Right after payment you are taken to a page with your download link, so save the PDF then. Link also emails you a receipt. If the download page does not open or a file will not download, email us and we will send the guide. The bundle gives you all three PDFs from one purchase.

Who is the merchant of record?

Stripe, through its Link service. It handles checkout, payment, sales tax and receipts, and your card statement shows LINK.COM* followed by our name. Sundial Pages publishes the guides and delivers the download.

Email sundialpages@gmail.com within 30 days of purchase with your order email or order number, and we will refund you in full. You do not need to give a reason. Read the Refund Policy.

How do I contact you?

Email sundialpages@gmail.com.

Do I need special equipment?

No. Guide 1 compares scanning with a phone app, a flatbed scanner and a scanning service, and helps you choose item by item. The guides name software and services only as examples of a type, with the date we checked them, and list no prices.

Which guide should I start with?

Start with the one that matches your problem: scanning (Guide 1), finding and backing up what you already have (Guide 2), or looking after the originals and sharing with family (Guide 3). The guides point to each other where it helps.

Where do the facts come from?

Statements of fact in the guides come from public guidance by the Library of Congress, the National Archives, the National Park Service, CISA (the US cybersecurity agency) and the Image Permanence Institute, plus the help pages of tools named as examples. Each carries a small number that points to a Sources list at the back of the guide, with the date we checked it (October 16, 2026). Our own suggestions are not numbered, so you can tell the difference. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any of those organizations.

Is this medical, legal or financial advice?

No. The guides are general practical information. They are not medical, legal or financial advice, and not professional conservation advice. They do not cover copyright or other legal questions. Where something looks like a job for a professional, such as mold, damage or very old film, the guides tell you to stop and ask one.

Do the guides promise my photos will last?

No. No guide can promise that, and ours do not. They aim to reduce risk, not remove it, and they say so.

Can I share the files with relatives?

A purchase gives you a personal, non-transferable license to download, read and print the guide for your own use. Please do not resell, share publicly or redistribute the files. See the Terms of Service.
